It’s Time to SPRING CLEAN

Spring is traditionally the time we toss out the old and make way for the new. While this usually applies to your wardrobe and sprucing up your house, it is also the perfect time to start spring cleaning your skincare routine to ensure your skin stays brighter, healthier, and younger looking.

CREATE THE BEST ENVIRONMENT FOR YOUR SKIN

Winter often brings more clutter, dust, and dirt into your home, and it can be harmful to your body, and especially your skin. Dust, and the nasty things it attracts like dust mites and cockroach debris, can be particularly irritating to skin. Studies show that this debris makes it harder for damaged skin to heal itself.

DUST MITES AND HOW TO CONTROL THEM

Dust mites are microscopic creatures that feed off human skin scales. They thrive in humid conditions and they are one of the most common allergen triggers of asthma. Dust mites can become airborne after vacuuming and dusting and they thrive anywhere that is damp and warm. You’ll find them lurking in things like bedding, carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, soft toys, and clothing. Getting rid of dust mites and other allergens can be difficult but there are a few cleaning techniques that can help banish these creepy critters. For bedding and soft toys, a weekly hot wash of 55 degrees Celsius or hotter is recommended. If you prefer to wash in cold water, add some tea tree or eucalyptus oil, then hang out to dry in the sun. Hot tumble dry for at least 10 minutes after it’s dry. In between washing, pull back the bedding every morning and allow it to air. Also pull back blinds or curtains to allow sunshine into the room. Also remember to vacuum your mattress once a month using the upholstery tool. Allergy-free mattress and pillow protectors can help, too. Carpets and rugs should be vacuumed weekly using a HEPA filter that can trap minute, harmful particles like pollen, pet dander, dust mites and smoke. Vacuuming can stir up the dust mites so you could try steam cleaning your floors, furniture, carpets, and drapes instead. When dusting, use a damp or an electrostatic cloth and avoid feather dusters which can make the allergen airborne. Make sure your home’s heating and cooling systems also have a HEPA filter or consider investing in an air purifier, particularly if you or any member of your family suffers from asthma or respiratory problems.

BREATHE NEW LIFE INTO YOUR SKIN.

DMK has a range of Enzyme Therapies that restore skin to its peak condition, and DMK is the only company in the world to utilise the beneficial effects of transfer-messenger enzymes. Enzymes are living substances that regulate health and work with certain minerals in the body to form a natural system of antioxidants that fight corrosive free radicals. Properly formulated, they can remove dead protein, toxins, and other effluvia from the epidermis using a process called ‘reverse osmosis.’ Some cosmetic facial treatments may only act on the surface of the skin, but DMK Enzyme Treatments work with the skin. The enzymes aim to strengthen the structural integrity of the skin to create a healthy environment for cells to live and thrive. Enzyme Therapies also exercise facial muscles and leave the skin feeling firm and fresh.
